Born and raised in Chicago, Marcus Smith received his degree in business economics from the University of Illinois. He loves Michael Jordan and the Bulls, and owns 75 pairs of gym shoes, still in their original boxes. Smith’s photography clients include Nike Basketball and Football, Asics, Jordan Brand, ESPN Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, Runner’s World Magazine and many more.

Smith was featured in PDN’s 30 in 2014. His work can be found in the Authentic category in the Emerging exhibit.

My Inspiration

I tend to go through different phases and really just shoot what I feel. For that reason, I'd like to maintain the flexibility to be able shoot a variety of different subjects. Right now, I'm all about documenting sports: being a fly on the wall in locker rooms, in the middle of huddles in the final moments of a big game, etc.
