Join us for a Havana-inspired evening to help us celebrate the opening of our new exhibit Cuba Is. The night will feature food, drinks, live music and a first look at the exhibition.
Cuba Is reveals the complexities of Cuban life both on and off the island. This multimedia exhibition captures a range of subjects, from defiant youth known as “Frikis,” to the hard-partying children of the country’s elusive 1%. Cuba Is features over 120 photos that challenge historical preconceptions and enlighten its viewers to the nation’s current reality.
The Cuba Is exhibit is part of Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, a far-reaching and ambitious exploration of Latin American and Latino art in dialogue with Los Angeles. Pacific Standard Time is an initiative of the Getty. The presenting sponsor is Bank of America.
Exhibit
Revealing complexities both on and off the island, Cuba Is explores aspects of Cuba not easily accessed by foreigners, and sometimes not even by Cubans themselves.
