Utilizing what he terms a “hip-hop baroque” aesthetic, Luis Gispert discusses his interdisciplinary work that incorporates photography, sound, sculpture, and video. In 2001, Gispert began documenting Miami’s “chonga” girls in his series entitled, “Cheerleaders” and offers insights into the genesis of his project, on display at the Cuba Is exhibit.
Luis Gispert is a sculptor and photographer whose work often incorporates multimedia, including sound and video.
