Thomas Shahan is a macro photographer and artist from Tulsa with a passion for entomology and traditional relief printmaking. During high school, Shahan became increasingly aware of the salticids in his backyard and quickly developed a deep admiration for them. After studying art at the University of Oklahoma, Shahan went to work in the Oregon Department of Agriculture’s entomology lab as a digital imaging specialist – taking high-magnification, focus-stacked photographs and SEM images of arthropods. Photography allows Shahan to capture and share the wonderful personality and diversity of insects with others.
