Sarah Ann Jump is a visual journalist from Maryland currently based in Indiana. She is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology’s photojournalism program and has worked at such publications as The Dubois County Herald, The Star Democrat and The Free Lance-Star. In 2014, she was the recipient of the Alexia Foundation’s Student Award of Excellence, Gilka Award for her “New Roots” project, a long-form interactive article featuring a single Congolese refugee family resettling in Rochester, New York. Through photography, .gifs, data visualization and audio, Jump reveals the moments of joy and discovery, as well as the trials of the Kamali family during their first few months in the United States.
