Michael Melford’s assignments for the National Geographic Magazine are always celebrating the marvels of our incredible planet. A passionate conservationist, Michael’s features have taken him to some of the most pristine places in the world. After completing over 30 stories for National Geographic Travel Magazine, Michael recently completed his 14th story for National Geographic Magazine. In 2001, Michael shot the very first digital assignment for the National Geographic Society: a feature article on San Diego for Traveler Magazine. His work has been featured in many leading publications and has been seen on the cover of National Geographic, Newsweek, Time, Life, Fortune, Smithsonian, Geo, Travel and Leisure, Travel Holiday, and Costal Living.

Michael Melford has distinguished himself both in the diversity of his subject matter as well as in the publications he has been featured in. His expertise is in shooting the wonders of travel and nature and the people who occupy that landscape. His vibrant work is a celebration of life, and his respect for all living things is apparent in his powerful images.
