Photographer
Laura A. Watt’s photography process aims to uncover an intimacy with the world, reaking down (false) divisions between the natural and human, or perhaps revealing an aspect of a thing / person / scene that you wouldnt see with your bare eyes, something that only the camera / film / moment of capture can really get at? She never tires of photographing water, with all its wonderful shapes, textures and tones. Additional work covers an obsession with swirls / spirals / wave-shapes, glowing light, and quirky verging on abstract patterns, all ranging in scale from broad and expansive down to tiny and intimate. She still shoots digital occasionally, but mostly have returned to film, through a wide variety of cameras, for its wonderful depth and quality of light. When not taking photos, Laua teaches environmental studies as an assistant professor at Sonoma State University.
