Early in his career, Larry Brownstein traveled extensively throughout Asia and Europe, photographing the people, landscapes and monuments before turning his attention to the American landscape, both natural and man-made. His fine art work currently focuses on the sub-cultures and urban landscape of Los Angeles and its environs. He is represented by Getty Images, Alamy, and Ambient Images and has won photo contests, including a Nikon Photo Contest. Brownstein has exhibited widely. His exposé Hollywood: A Live Show Daily was featured at the prestigious Annenberg Space for Photography. He exhibited in the critically acclaimed Group LA 2008, and has shown at a number of galleries, including a solo exhibit at the G2 Gallery that received critical acclaim in Art Scene.

Brownstein has published two monographs: Los Angeles, Where Anything is Possible and The Midnight Mission. He was one of the principal photographers of three books—America the Beautiful, California and Only in Los Angeles; his work also appears in the book Best of Nature. He frequently contributes to magazines and was formerly a contributing editor of Rangefinder and AfterCapture magazine. His thousands of photo credits include magazines such as National Geographic Traveler, Discover, Photo District News and Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel, in addition to books, textbooks, calendars, greeting cards, corporate brochures, billboards, etc.
