Joanna Pinneo has an international reputation. A Pulitzer nominee and winner of the Alfred Eisenstaedt Award, she has been a photojournalist for more than twenty years, eight of those years for the National Geographic Magazine. She has worked in more than 65 countries and her photograph of a Tuareg family, napping in the sands of West Africa, graces the cover of the book: Women Photographers at National Geographic.
Joanna’s ongoing collection of photo essays documenting girls coming of age in America, www.grrlstories.org, has sustained her passionate interest for years. Grrlstories, Inc is a non-profit organization dedicated to girls by connecting them to other girls, giving them a voice by expressing themselves through photography.
