Hadley and Peter Arnold are founding co-directors of the Arid Lands Institute (ALI), a research, outreach and education center at Woodbury University devoted to design of the built environment in dry lands. ALI’s mission is to advance design innovation at the nexus of water, energy and climate preparation. ALI brings together design, science, policy and the arts to envision a robust and vibrant future in the US West, serving as a model for drylands globally.
Hadley Arnold serves as ALI’s Executive Director, working with partners to build creative collaborations across institutions and sectors. She has taught urban history, theory and design studios at SCI-Arc, UCLA and Woodbury. Peter Arnold serves as ALI’s Director of Research, creating powerful new watershed modeling tools for maximizing stormwater recovery at the local and regional level. He has taught design and geospatial research studios at Woodbury and UCLA. Together, the Arnolds have photographed the infrastructural landscapes of the west extensively.
As of December 15, 2014
