Alexandra Avakian

For almost 30 years, Alexandra Avakian has been a photojournalist, covering some of the most important stories of her time. Avakian has been published by National Geographic magazine, Time, The New York Times Magazine and many others worldwide. Her memoir, Windows of the Soul: My Journeys In The Muslim World, was published by National Geographic.

Avakian’s work was chronicled in “Iran: Behind the Veil,” for National Geographic Television’s Explorer series, CNN’s AndersonCooper360, C-Span’s BookTV, VOA TV, Fox and Al Jazeera. Avakian has received honors from POYi, NYFA, American Photographer and has exhibited worldwide, including Visa Pour L’image.
