Emerging Experience is a multimedia installation at Skylight Studios that offers imagery exemplifying three different themes: Taste, Sound and Style. Featuring the work of artists who are challenging photographic boundaries in social media, Emerging Experience celebrates the latest photographic talents and trends, as well as crowd-sourced digital content.
Taste
The screens of Skylight Studios were filled with multimedia pieces spotlighting the theme of Taste. Featured videos included the documentary short “Howard’s Farm” by Ivan Cash, “Flatten” by Hugo de Kok and Kay van Vree and a behind-the-scenes film about the geographic food maps created by artists Henry Hargreaves and Caitlin Levine. Taste also included the work of Vine sensations Meagan Cignoli and Pinot.
Skylight Studios hosted a variety of tasty events as well, from small plates and cocktail samplings to panels on food photography.
Sound
Featuring themed images and curated short films that showcase the creation of music and celebrate sound by way of social media.
Skylight Studios hosted a variety of events for Sound as well, including a panel discussion on music and photography with KCRW’s Jason Bentley and Mark Seliger, a screening of the No Cameras Allowed documentary by music photographer Marcus Haney and a lecture with Jesse Thorn, host of NPR’s Bullseye.
Style
Style features the latest fashion and design content throughout Skylight Studios’ digital installation, including style themed images and curated short films from Vine stars Meagan Cignoli and Xaviera Lopez. Skylight Studios is also hosting a variety of stylish events, including an iPhoneography class by Julie Lee (Julie’s Kitchen), a lifestyle photography workshop with Lauren Randolph, a commercial portfolio review and more!
Gravity Room
The innovative Gravity Room will allow you to turn the art of photography on its side, as off-kilter sets create the illusion of an upended reality. Be sure to bring your camera inside for memorable and mind-blowing snapshots.
