Grammy award-winning songwriter Dwight Yoakam has sold more than 25 million records. He’s kept his sound fresh by embracing a wider range of sounds on recent recordings, including his latest “Second Hand Heart.”

Opening the show will be the groundbreaking quartet known as X. Formed during the first wave of American punk music in the late 70s, the band celebrates the trials and tribulations of living in Los Angeles. The entire original lineup returns for this show.

The evening will be hosted by KCRW DJ Anne Litt.

Inspired by our Emerging exhibit, the Sound in Focus concert series builds on the success of KCRW and the Annenberg Foundation’s two previous concert collaborations, Country in the City and Who Shot Rock & Roll Live. Held at Century Park in Century City, the four summer shows of Sound in Focus offer a different story and musical identity, reflecting the interests of the LA community. Each concert is free to attend, but RSVP is required for entry.

Sound in Focus is presented by the Annenberg Foundation and KCRW
