Film Screening: Jaws
This Fourth of July, come feast your eyes on the greatest Great White of them all – Jaws! This timeless summertime thriller will be even more thrilling as this seafaring adventure comes to life on the Annenberg Space for Photography’s brand-new 18’ foot, 6K, micro-LED wall-sized display. Roy Scheider might need a bigger boat, but we don’t need a bigger screen. With this film, director Steven Spielberg – whose portrait by Annie Lebovitz, together with George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, and Francis Ford Coppola is included in Vanity Fair: Hollywood Calling – smashed box-office records and established a new Hollywood business model: the summer blockbuster. Come with your family and friends to enjoy this hair-raising film, surrounded by nearly 40 years of Hollywood photography, before heading out to gaze up at your annual fireworks spectacular.
For the duration of Vanity Fair: Hollywood Calling, the Photo Space will showcase some of the greatest films by the directors and actors included in the exhibition, that also coincide with Black History Month (February), Women’s History Month (March), National Humor Month (April), Asian Pacific American Month (May), Pride (June), and a fun, Hollywood summer blockbuster for July.
In this arresting and iconic exhibition – curated by Vanity Fair’s creative development editor David Friend, and the magazine’s former director of photography Susan White – Vanity Fair: Hollywood Calling features photographic portraiture and multimedia installations that capture the magic and glamour of the film and television industry’s major players from the last four decades.Learn More
